The tower of London!!!!!! and more

Wednesday 2nd of July

Yesterday we went to teh tower of london, it was awesome, an actual Beefeater (the guys in the red costume, not a carnivore) took us around on a tour, he was really funny and told us lots of stories about who got their heads chopped off and who lived in the castle!!!
We looked at the crown jewels along with like a hundred million other tourists (man tourists are annoying! and lots them are matching!). They were very shiney (the jewels, not the tourists) and they had loads of massive diamonds and they're very big on gold stuff too (like the giant solid gold salt server thing)

We also got to see the Tower bridge go up!!! And also the cool machinery underneath it that makes it go. Jez was very interested in all of that, more than I was.

Then we went onto the HMS Belfast which is the only ship of its class (light cruiser) that remains from serving in WWII. Its been converted into a floating mueseum and we got to look at how it works and how all the sailors lived on board.

We've been catching the tube all over the place and Gem reckons that the lady is really chatty (this is the automatic announcement). She tells you what train you're on, what stop is next, what you can do from that stop, everytime the train pulls into a station (and the man also tells you to mind the gap!)

Okay children, until next time.

  1. hi mum here - sounds as if you're making the most of every moment. As you sit in the park in your T shirt think of what you left behing (besides people and cabbage trees of course) it is the worst storm for years ! all passes apart from Arthurs are closed and snow chains are essential on all mountain roads. The tourists are either having fun or getting stuck ! - with lots of refunds requested. Well stay cool! in mmore ways than one . Missing you however know you are having a great time. love Mum

  2. Hi there, and welcome to Britain! Your Mum told me the web address of this blog, so I can keep up with what you're doing. You sound to be having a great time already in London - sorry that Tuesday isn't going to work out. I wonder whether your pass includes Shakespeare's Globe? Fabulous place - we went to a performance there a couple of years ago, fantastic, but I haven't been round the exhibition which sounds really good too.

Looking forward to seeing you in Silverdale.

    Love, Pam

  3. Sounds like we left NZ at just the right time. Had a couple of rainy days but yesterday was another hot sunny day.

Pam - Yes the pass does include the Globe and we went there on Thursday. I didn't realise it was such a recently built building! It was amazing and we're so going to go see a play there when we're next in London.
